Luke 1:18-20

Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.”  19The angel answered, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. 20And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time.”Arabic-Gabriel Zakariya alQazwini

Commentary: The angel Gabriel, named here, is referenced throughout the Old and New Testaments. This story of Zechariah is also told in the Quran and in literature from the time of Jesus. Gabriel is a messenger of God, often pictured in blue, and frequently blowing a trumpet. He always has important news or interpretations of news.

To Ponder: Have you ever received a message that you did not understand at the time?

What mysteries are there in your life right now? If you could have an angel messenger bring you news about something in your life, what would it be?
